Iran film ‘Lottery’ finds leading actor

Iranian film ‘Lottery’ adds notable thespian Hamid Farrokhnejad as a leading actor to the cast list.

A lineup of actors which earlier joined the cast includes Javad Ezzati, Ziba Karamali, Saed Soheili, Javad Ezzati and Hadi Hejazifar.

The film is gearing up for production to attend the upcoming Fajr Film Festival in Iran, which will kick off in Tehran next February.

Film credits for in-demand director of ‘Lottery’, Mohammed Hossein Mahdavian, include titles such as ‘The Midday Event’ and ‘Standing in the Dust’ awarded at previous editions of Fajr National Film Festival.

Actor, screenwriter and film and television director Farrokhnejad holds a degree in theater directing from Tehran University’s Faculty of Fine Arts.

He began his career as an assistant director, and launched his acting career by appearing in Khosrow Sinaee’s ‘In the Alleys of Love’ in 1991.

His acting skills was first noticed in 1999 when he played a role in 'The Bride of Fire', which was his second movie, and was rewarded Crystal Simorgh at the 18th International Fajr Film Festival for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

The script of the movie, which was co-authored by Sinaee and Farrokhnejad, also received a Crystal Simorgh for Best Original Screenplay.

This talented actor received critics acclaim for his play in 'The Purple' (2004).

Farrokhnejad has also appeared in many films and series including 'Heart of Ice' (2000), 'Low Heights' (2001), 'Big Drum Under the Left Foot' (2004), 'Fireworks Wednesday' (2005), 'Yasin' (2005), 'The Green Ring' (2008), ‘Habib’ (2010), and 'The Married Life of Mr. Mahmoudi and His Spouse' (2012).
